You can choose from three different rides. Our Two Hour Ride, our Ranch Ride (1/2 day) and our Supper Ride. Each ride will begin when you meet your Wrangler (otherwise known in these parts as an Ornery Old Cayuse), who will help you choose the right horse for your ride. You will then get a short introduction to horsemanship and your tack gear (saddle, stirrups and reins) will be adjusted for your comfort and safety. We will then go through a short introduction to riding in our arena area where you will learn Go, Slow and Whoa and other such things as that. With that done we will be on our way.

Two Hour RideCrossing Schlagel Creek

Our Two Hour Ride is our most popular ride. We tour part of the ranch and ride through the Sandhills, Ponderosa Pine covered ridges and down through hardwoods into the Niobrara River Valley. We will stop along the way to stretch and take a few photographs at a scenic overlook and then ride by our trout ponds, where you can stop and feed the fish. We will then ride along the river valley and back up the pine covered ridges back to our starting point.

Ranch RideRide Through The Pines!

Our Ranch Ride is a 1/2 day ride and is for the little more experienced rider. This ride usually starts in the morning. On this ride we will tour the ranch and you will experience and do the things we do in a day of checking cattle on the ranch. We will ride through some of the same terrain features above, but in addition we will have a couple of water crossings where we cross Schlagel Creek on our way to check cattle. Along our way we will check fences, salt and mineral tubs and make sure that the windmills are running or that our watergaps along the river and Schlagel Creek are OK. Along the way we will usually see deer, turkeys or coyotes and sometimes even a majestic Bald Eagle. Once back at the corrals and trail ride headquarters, you can knock off the trail dust and freshen up a bit before being served a ranch lunch before heading back for civilization. * May require a minumum number of riders. Supper RidesScenic Overlook Our Supper Rides last about 2 and 1/2 hours and cover the same terrain features as our two hour rides. We will ride along the Niobrara River Valley, through the sandhills and pine covered ridges and then down into the river valley itself. At the end of the ride you will be served a chuckwagon style steak supper. The location for your supper will be amongst the pines on a scenic bluff overlooking the Niobrara River. *This ride requires a minimum of 6 people but groups can be combined. Non-riders in your group can also be served our chuckwagon style supper. Bring Your Own HorsesGet Away For A Relaxing Stay And Ride We welcome those people with their own horses looking for a place to get away and ride someplace new. Stay in our facilities or just bring your horse. We have facilities that you can board or pasture your horse during your stay. You can go along on one of our scheduled rides or we can custom design a ride for you. After you become familiar with the ranch you are welcome to ride on your own.
